Be my Valentine. (+ 100... of gifs and videos, sorry)
Valentine's Day, I love this day as much as I love working out (I don't work out). And it isn't because I don't have someone to spend it with.
In my (probably not very important) opinion, we show love much too little and much too rarely. Not only to our partners, but to people that we really love. The people with whom we spend much of our lives. People at the sight of which we are happy, no matter what. People whose success we enjoy. People who we would like to put in a pocket to always have with us.
Why I don't like Valentine's Day? We are lazy, selfish. We are afraid to show out feelings, or we simply don't want to, because we are just "too cool". Because these cool, selfish and lazy people probably think that showing love once a year is enough. Just buy a few flowers, some cheap box of chocolates with alcohol, and then nice sex.
Another option how, Valentine's Day look nowadays; Couples crawl out, everywhere is full of them, celebrating their love. Singles are pushed to the side, closed in their four walls, they watch love movies that happen to be on TV, eat ice cream, pralines and are in floods of tears. Is that fair? Being single, should be as joyous as being in a relationship. And there should be no date, on which ones discriminate the other's.
And Love? Love should be shown every day. And I don't mean expensive gifts, but gestures, words, to be. Sometimes just being for the other person, and give support is more valuable than these cheap boxes of chocolates.
Love is wonderful, makes happy. But why allow commerce to do with this? In this selected day, cinemas are crowded, restaurants are crowded, EVERYWHERE is crowded, because everyone suddenly thought, whatever, I can do this once a year... . The point is that in any other day you can go watch a romantic movie at the cinema, every other day, you can get/buy flowers. What makes 14. February so special? I think, I probably even have the answer: (sadly)commerce.
But anyway, I wish you all lot of love, no matter if you are single or not. We all deserve it!
